Why Laton?

Laton is a small, close-knit town with a rich community spirit but limited access to visual arts education and creative outlets. By establishing the Laton Arts Community Visual Arts Center, we aim to bridge this gap and offer everyone—young and old—a chance to discover the transformative power of the arts.

  • Ruth Vanessa Monarrez

    FOUNDER - Chief Executive Officer, Laton Arts Central CA

    As a multiple-subject teacher and former drama and Folklorico director, my passion for using the arts to inspire and uplift others has always been at the core of who I am. Over the past three years, that passion grew into a dream that led me to establish Laton Arts Central CA as a nonprofit. Now, I have the honor of overseeing operations, presiding over board meetings, and representing our mission to the world. Laton is more than just a town to me—it’s my heart and my inspiration. I am deeply committed to nurturing local talent and building an arts community that celebrates the vibrant spirit and unique beauty of our home.

  • Leon Bui

    Chief Operating Officer, Laton Arts Central CA

    As the Chief Operating Officer, I assist the CEO, take on their responsibilities when needed, and support the organization’s strategic goals and initiatives. My journey with Laton Arts Central CA began as a club advisor, where I had the privilege of guiding and watching the kids grow before my very eyes. Seeing their confidence and talent blossom has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. Being part of this incredible journey and contributing to a program that transforms lives is something I’m truly honored to do.

    As the Chief Financial Officer, I manage the financial operations of Laton Arts Central CA, ensuring our resources are used effectively to support our mission. My love for Laton is what brought me back to this community that means so much to me. I’m also a multiple-subject teacher and currently pursuing my master’s degree in Education, which has deepened my passion for empowering others through learning and the arts. Being part of Laton Arts Central CA allows me to give back to the town that shaped me and help create opportunities for the next generation.
